Choosing the right color for a website, a banner or anything that is not intended for the color blind may look as simple as "just throw a light blue there and everything is good", but it isn't. It can be hard work choosing one of the many-many-many variations from a color wheel. And, if we think it over, the healthy human eye can only perceive 256 colors... ColorImpact 4 can help you to better see the sublime difference between one point from a color wheel (or something similar) and the next.

You may think that it's a heavy editing software like Photoshop and it will take you a while to install it, but it's not true. You don't have to order it and wait for it to come on in a box, on many DVDs. You can just download the 12Mb installation kit and run it. In a manner of seconds, the program will be installed and ready to run.

Hearing/reading about colors, you may also think that the interface is very complex and you'll need time to study it. Not even close. ColorImpact is a color creation tool. That's it. There's no advance editing or anything of the sort. You can choose the color area that interests you from a wheel, rectangle or a list of web safe colors. In the main part of the interface, you can choose different tools for the area you have selected, all this being easy to find when you get to tabs. You can see an advanced color wheel that breaks down the colors of the selected area, a monochrome color formula, a variations view and others. The colors that interest you can be stored on a palette, also on the interface, which can be saved as a .JPG, .BMP or other formats.

Another neat feature lets you import an image and isolate its colours. In order to do this, you need to select a color from a drop down menu, check the "highlight" button and you will see how that color spreads on the image.

Pros

ColorImpact has a straight forward interface that can be accessed by both professionals and beginners. It doesn't require too much disk space and it's easy to install.

Cons

You still need to know a thing or two about colors before you dive in this software. Besides that, it's not free. Spare yourself the guess work when choosing a color for your project. ColorImpact 4 helps you do this with more precision.
